In February of 2022, KY Tracking initiated a mini grant opportunity in which local health departments could apply for funding to focus efforts on public health needs within their communities.
These mini-grants were a huge success, and the KY EPHT program would like to highlight the Woodford County Health Department. Woodford County is utilizing mini grant funding to assess the health risks and outcomes for uninsured immigrant workers and their families, with the goal of increasing health literacy, improving access to culturally competent care, and collecting health data that can be used to inform community partners. This initiative will bring together healthcare providers, policy makers, and advocates with geographically relevant information necessary for improving health outcomes.
In partnership with students from the Midway College Department of Nursing, Woodford County Health Department created health flyers and booklets in Spanish to communicate the need for health screenings. These resources were shared during a community health fair for Hispanic residents on June 3rd, 2022.
